Generally, you can put anything into a skip except hazardous items.

Prohibited items – What items can’t you dispose in a waste skip

You cannot put hazardous or harmful items into a skip. These include but are not limited to TVs, computer monitors, asbestos, tires, fluorescent tubes, fridges, paint and paint tins (unless empty), plasterboard, batteries, medical waste, gas cylinders, liquids, solvents, oil, petrol, diesel, and explosives.

Paint tins – Can you dispose paint tins in a skip

No, you can’t put paint tins in a waste skip unless they are empty. Contact your local council for disposal advice if you have tins with paint inside.

Mattresses – Is it OK to throw a mattress in a skip

Mattresses have to be disposed of differently from general waste.  Skip details shown on MCC Qatar are for general waste only and do not include mattresses.

Plasterboard – Why can’t you dispose plasterboard in a skip

Legislation covering plasterboard or gypsum waste states that it must be separated from other general waste. This would not be possible if it were received in a mixed skip load; therefore, we cannot accept plasterboard in any of our skips.

Tires – Can you dispose tires in a waste skip

Tires are classified as solid waste. Tires cannot be put in skips because they must be disposed of in a different way than general waste.

Soil and rubble – Can you put soil or rubble in a skip

Yes, you can put soil or rubble in a skip, but you must tell us when booking your skip.

WEEE – Can you put electrical equipment, solid waste, in skips

No, electrical equipment cannot be in our skips as the WEEE directive controls it. Contact your local council or if you have bought a new item, check to see if the store offers a trade-in service for your old item.

Fridges and Freezers – Can you dispose refrigerators in a waste skip

You cannot put a fridge in our skips. Some councils offer a free collection service for refrigeration units. Otherwise, you may take it to your local tip or pay for a specialist collection.

TV and CRTs – Can you dispose an old TV in a skip

No, televisions or computer monitors cannot be put in our skips. Not all solid waste can be disposed in a waste skip. Please get in touch with your local council to arrange collection. 

Asbestos – Can you put asbestos in a skip

You cannot put asbestos in a standard skip, and it cannot be reused or recycled under any circumstances. If you have asbestos or other hazardous materials, you should contact a waste company specializing in hazardous waste for collection.
